"At the age of 50 I started running after a break of more than
20 years. Willpower got me through a half marathon in the first year but
couldn’t prevent the onset of osteitis pubis in the second. I was told that 12
months rest would cure the osteitis pubis and yoga would prevent it recurring.
That was 6 years ago. The advice was correct on both counts. I’m still running
and still doing yoga. Marianne is a fantastic yoga teacher. My lower back was a
plank when I first started but it wasn’t long before I discovered that I did in
fact have individual vertebrae that weren’t welded in place !!
Marianne understands and accepts that we can’t all sit in a "tortoise" position and that it’s OK to modify a pose to suit the individual. That Triyoga has an emphasis on flowing from one position to another, inherently seems “right”. I’m convinced that I wouldn’t be running now if yoga was not built into my weekly routine. For anyone out there thinking that yoga isn’t for me, think again. The improvements that can be achieved in flexibility, breathing techniques and clarity of mind, are proportional to the amount of time that you want to put into this simple, accessible and affordable activity.
I recommend Triyoga to anyone of any age or fitness, and in
particular recommend Marianne as a yoga teacher that will guide you
in a manner suited to your abilities".
